The PIMD Electrical group makes sure electrical work is done safely and according to lab and national electrical standards. They support lab projects managed by PIMD by providing guidance and training to upgrade, replace, and install electrical infrastructure. They also collaborate with EHS and Facilities divisions to manage electrical outages essential to safely complete projects.
What is the Electrical Safety Program?
Berkeley Lab has a comprehensive Electrical Safety Program (ESP). The objectives of the Electrical Safety Program are as follows:
- Prevent electrical-related injuries.
- Implement proactive controls across the spectrum of expected hazards.
- Educate the lab population about electrical hazards.
- Promote a vibrant electrical safety culture.
- Demonstrate compliance to established standards.
