The Commissioning Group is part of the Projects and Infrastructure Modernization Division (PIMD) at Berkeley Lab. Commissioning is an important part of most projects at Berkeley Lab, it is a systematic process of ensuring a building performs in accordance with design intent, contract documents and the owner’s project requirements (OPR).
Why contact the Commissioning Group?
The Commissioning Group can help identify the Commissioning scope and approach for a project, including identification of the use of internal or external resources to act as the Commissioning Provider.
When should you contact the Commissioning Group?
Commissioning starts earlier than you may think; it should start during the project Planning or early in the Design Phase, depending on the requirements of the project. If Commissioning is started at the end of the Design Phase/start of the Construction Phase, the opportunity for design review by the Commissioning Provider will be missed.
